Announcing Video DownloadHelper Version 9

Video DownloadHelper is a browser extension that allows anyone to download videos from the web.

We started working on Video DownloadHelper more than 15 years ago. We now have millions of users across Firefox, Chrome, and Edge, and both the Mozilla and Google stores now feature our extension 🙂.

As the web is changing rapidly and the extension is becoming more popular, we've teamed up with another engineer, Paul Rouget, a Mozilla veteran who has been working as a Firefox developer for 17 years.

Video DownloadHelper Version 9 is the result of our collaboration, and comes packed with cool new features:

New Design

Updated main user interface with a more modern look, support for black/light theme switching, and accessibility navigation

Sidebar Support

Dock Video DownloadHelper into the sidebar for a live view of available downloads, current downloads, and downloaded videos.

Download Audio Only

Download only the audio of a video for creating playlists or listening to talks without storing the entire video.

Support multiple format and quality

Convert from one format to another and support a range of qualities (from Ultra HD to low definition) and containers (MKV, MP4, WebM, etc.).
