Guisisire Agroforestry Cooperative from Honduras

$12175 to invest in bee hives to increase bee population and sell honey-based products.

Guisisire is a community that has understood that strength lies in unity.

Guisisire Agroforestry Cooperative's journey began in 2014 with 34 members, 22 men and 12 women. Since the beginning, they have been able to work with their own capital and, through great sacrifice and much effort, have been able to grow steadily.

Being a staple farming community, they have benefitted by farming using sustainable solutions to protect the forest where they are located; they have built their own collection center to facilitate their activities after each harvest.

Currently, they generate several jobs in the area because they need farmhands to aid in cleaning, fertilizing, fumigation, and harvesting staple grains (corn and beans). With their harvest, they can provide food for their families and neighboring communities.

Today, they are seeking their first Kiva loan to begin a beekeeping initiative by buying bee hives to help increase the bee population, produce honey and sell organic honey based-products to the community as a way to diversify their portfolio, generate income for the families members of the cooperative and protect our environment.

Thank you for helping Guisisire Agroforestry cooperative boost bee repopulation in rural Honduras, and contribute to improving our environment!
