Lina from Zambia

$550 to buy a tailoring machine and material.

Lina is a 34-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her husband and four children in the Isoka district of Zambia. Lina is a tailor and owns a tailoring shop. Lina is requesting a Kiva loan to promote and expand her business. She will also use the opportunity to make face masks, which are much needed in her community as a way to prevent the spread of COVID-19. She plans to use the profit she earns to expand her business by buying another sewing machine and pay school fees for her children.

Lina will repay the ‘social interest’ on her loan by volunteering three hours per week as a CAMFED Association Financial Education Guide, supporting other young women in her community, by teaching them about financial literacy and best practices for setting up a business.
